Lili Anne Laurin
“In the solitary act of painting, the artist transfers pictorial language into a visual statement”
“Nature’s quiet majesty is a well source of inspiration and the impetus for my creativity. One of
the most important objectives for me is to create in my paintings the same sense of enjoyment
and peacefulness I felt when painting them.”
Painting has been a lifelong passion for Ms. Laurin who spent her early years honing her skills
first in the watercolor medium and later discovering other mediums, acrylic, printmaking and oil
while studying for a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada
where she was born. After moving to New Jersey with her husband and young son, she spent
her Saturdays studying anatomy drawing and painting for two years at the Art Students’ League
in New York. “As an artist there is always more to learn about one’s craft and I am fascinated by
other artists’ techniques and vision. I avail myself of every opportunity to take workshops with
master artists from around the country.”
Lili’s paintings have received local and national recognition and her work and painting
techniques have been published in International Artists Magazine, American Art Review, as well
as in the art instruction series “100 Ways to Paint Landscapes”. She has received several Jury’s
Top Sixty awards for paintings juried into the Salon International Shows as well as an award of
excellence awarded by the great American painter, Max Ginsberg for her painting Pastoral
Longhorn. She has recently been juried into the 2013 OPA Eastern Regional and the 2014
National OPA Show.
Lili and her family moved to Arizona in September of 2014. After five months of house hunting
and finally settling into her new home, she is exploring her new environment and looks forward
to interpreting desert scenes and sharing them with her new patrons.
As an avid plein air painter she has pursued a more direct approach to painting. Her paintings
reflect her many years of thoughtful observations and love of nature and she has developed a
loyal collector base.
Lili Laurin is an associate member of the California Arts Club, the Oil Painters of America, the
American Impressionist Society, as well as the American Society of Marine Artists and is
represented by Highlands Art Gallery, Lambertville, NJ and McBride Gallery, Annapolis,
Maryland.
