Statement
Exploring the depths of color, materiality and luminosity, I seek to create a unique journey for the viewer. Growing up in Los Angeles, I fell in love with the light of Southern California, and I try to capture it in my work.
Looking for tension and balance, contrasting colors and shapes, I paint on unusual surfaces like plexiglass and aluminum. I use homemade, non-traditional tools, and I often pour or toss the paint to achieve spontaneous results.
With each piece, I embark upon a journey of discovery, for myself and for the viewer. Each work begins with a specific vision. Then, I’m pushed to change it when confronted with the constraints of the process. Navigating the tension between the vision and the reality is similar to finding solutions to the challenges we face in life. For me, this is the reward of making art.
