My oil paintings are contemporary realism, or contemplative naturalism; with a subtle weaving of feeling, dream, or memory that has shifted with time into each piece. I love to explore the subtle layers that exist in each of us while contemplating the relationships between the inner mindscapes and outer landscapes; juxtaposing and reflecting the subconscious with all of its complex layers with the clarity of the natural world. I often choose to paint solitary figures, yet the subject is often interconnected and woven into the environment or by the simplicity of the space around them. Geometric shapes are often the underlying structure within the compositions of my art, as I find it balances the chaos with order. I enjoy creating figures that are both strong, and vulnerable, a nod to what I admire in others, as well as myself, an exploration on this journey we call life.
