Signed and dated to verso 'Richard Anuszkiewicz 1976'.
Anuszkiewicz created both an acrylic 'Y' painting, and a related screenprint to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Young Men's-Young Women's Hebrew Association, a Jewish community center in New Jersey, in 1976. The large geometric 'Y' design fit both the organization's nickname ('the Y'), and Anuszkiewicz's Op Art / geometric visual style. The artwork transforms the letter Y into a vibrant experience rather than simply a logo. The intensely saturated colors, sharp linear geometry, and repeated bands or gradients create a glowing, vibrating effect. Like much of Anuszkiewicz's work, the piece is less about depicting an object and more about how color interact, how the eye perceives space and light, and how a simple form can feel dynamic and almost electric. The Y functions on several levels: the initial of the institution, a strong modernist geometric form, and as a symbol for branching shape suggesting community, connection, or paths coming together.
The screenprint is also signed, dated and numbered to lower right of print 'Anuszkiewicz A.P. 4/10 1976'. This work is artist's proof 4 of 10 apart from the edition of unknown size.
