- Noosed rope corated in salt crystals
- 26 x 9 x 4 in
Sigalit Landau, born in Jerusalem in 1969, is an Israeli artist known for transforming everyday objects through the natural alchemy of the Dead Sea. By immersing them in its mineral rich waters, she allows salt crystals to grow slowly over their surfaces, turning objects linked to memory and pain into forms of quiet beauty.
In Gang Hang, Landau submerged a noose, a symbol of death and suffering, and let the salt reshape it into a luminous and delicate sculpture. The once violent object becomes serene and radiant, its meaning transformed by nature and time. Through this patient process, Landau reveals the possibility of healing and renewal, showing how instruments of despair can be transfigured into symbols of peace and transcendence.
