MessageLAURA HOHLWEIN is a painter, a published poet, and an adjunct professor of Art with the Los Rios Community Colleges in Sacramento, California. She holds an MFA in New Media from Transart Institute in Austria and an MFA in Creative Writing from Vermont College. Ms. Hohlwein was the recipient of two teaching grants from the California Arts Council for her work with prison inmates and a grant from The Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Council for video poetry. She also serves as Creative Director for The International Readers of Homer, a non-profit international literary event group that has produced audience-participation readings at such locations as The Library of Alexandria, The 92nd Street Y, and The Getty Museum in Malibu.
She has been exhibited in California, New York and in Europe.
Her approach to painting is spontaneous and her paintings are a final record of color and composition meditations over time.

As a painter, Laura Hohlwein is interested in exploring the 'feeling' of consciousness and the dynamics of change, transformation, possibility.
