Helen Rodrigue-Lamothe ("Lamo") is a contemporary painter known for her dynamic approach to alla prima painting. Signing her work under the moniker "Lamo," she has developed a reputation for creating pieces that are defined by their immediacy and freshness.

Helen’s practice is rooted in the challenge of the single sitting. By working wet-on-wet, she captures the energy of a specific moment, refusing to overwork the canvas. Her brushwork is loose, confident, and highly expressive, prioritizing the gesture of the hand over rigid detail.

Recently, her work has evolved toward abstract realism. While her subjects remain recognizable, they are increasingly deconstructed by bold strokes and vibrant textures, inviting the viewer to appreciate the paint itself as much as the image it portrays. Through this balance of form and abstraction, Lamo captures not just the look of her subject, but its fleeting essence.
