"And now about the cauldron sing
Like elves and fairies in a ring,
Enchanting all that you put in."
- Shakespeare: Macbeth (Act 4, scene 1)
A meditation on light and darkness.
In the middle, a circle of moon phases woven in clasped weft with pattern changes, on plain weave background. From there, the plain weave slowly changes through original patterns into a beautiful pattern of stars. The mirrored patterns are turned so that one end is mostly silver and the other end is mostly black.
One end has a series of moon phases woven in irregular sateen, with a shadow of the same moons woven in reversed pattern underneath, visible on the underside.
Both ends have ornamental ladder hemstitching.
There are wild fringes on both ends, mostly twisted on one side, mostly braided on the other side. Additional silver threads adorn the fringe on both sides.
