Persian/ American artist Ladan took a winding road to become a painter. Born in Tabriz, Iran, Ladan moved to Oklahoma where she finished high school before earning her license in cosmetology. Soon afterward, she pursued her interest in business, opening her first salon location in Stillwater, Oklahoma which was the largest in the state. Over the next few years, Ladan traveled the world as the Educational Director for Toni & Guy International, where she learned the nuances of life.
Through her explorations and adventures, she experienced various walks of life and cultures. These travels gave her a new perception of the world in which she discovered her passion for painting and living an unstoppable life.
Employing a variety of techniques and tools keeps Ladan's work fresh and exciting. Largely self-taught, Ladan is attempting to redefine acrylic as a medium by manipulating surface textures and substrates. Her primary working methods involve the direct application of acrylics and resin to create a fluidic appearance and organic patterns that borderline representational and abstract nature. She aims to capture the beauty and solitude of life through her abstract nature and landscapes of solitary tree forms and strong passionate colors. In her pursuit of art, Ladan uses colors and textures to reflect the soulful and playful spirit of life. Striving for the human connection in every piece she has created, Ladan hopes that her work would be able to reach out to and connect with the viewer, evoking the sense of wonder and awe of our everyday life that are so often taken for granted. Ladan has built a loyal following among private collectors.
