Piece Description

“Listening to the story of Mr. Hill and how he appreciated the valve really inspired me to how I wanted to approach this painting,” Anna Engel says. “Right after I had the tour, I really wanted to focus on the Core Values of this company. One meaning behind Kimray’s story that struck me the most was that a good reputation is more valuable than silver and gold. I wanted to incorporate the meaning behind that.

“This is a faith-based company, and I really wanted that to be the expression, not just the valve itself, but the background itself. The background to me is just as important as the image of the valve. The meaning behind the silver and gold in the painting is these are earthly trappings. The purple is the royalty of God, and the white up above is the burst of new light. All combined, they enrich the image, making it more dynamic.”
