Artist Bio

From a young age, Annalise Mellor fostered a profound passion for art. Throughout her life, she explored various artistic mediums, continuously seeking to learn and grow. At just 16, her talent caught the attention of Pixar Animation Studios and other major corporations, earning her recognition as a young artist. Eager to delve deeper into the art world, Annalise later pursued her artistic endeavors at Harding University. Today, at 22, she continues to create digital art while also exploring graphite and watercolor as additional creative pursuits.”

Piece Description

“In 2017, I was commissioned by Kimray to create a digital art piece for the AAA series,” Annalise says. “Using a drawing program, I began by sketching the valve in black, then colored it loosely in Kimray red to create an exaggerated look. I started with basic shapes and worked from there, drawing as soon as ideas came to mind. This created an organic effect. After creating the basic valve, I refined the edges and added the details, such as the text and bolts. Adding these details gave the AAA its finished appearance.

“Stylistically, I chose to use ’vectors’ – solid blocks of color represented by mathematical equations calculated by a computer program. This method allowed the artwork to be infinitely scalable without compromising quality. Inspired by the long history of this valve, I chose to give the piece a refined, industrial feel. As a final touch, the finished piece was printed onto a sheet of metal to represent the durability and reliability of the AAA valve.”
