Artist Bio
Sarah Day Short likes to call herself a multimedia artist, but a more accurate description would simply be a creator. Whether in the studio, garden, kitchen or on the hiking trail, she is always making something. A love of materials & process has led her to work with various types of printmaking, acrylic and watercolor painting, the cyanotype process (sun printing), epoxy resin casting, drawing, collage, poetry, and much more.
The simplicity of abstract color and movement is a common thread in Sarah’s art. More recently, she has begun to tie in some deeper concepts inspired by the cycles of change within nature, the seasons, and the phases of the moon. Her goal is to show how these cycles are directly linked to the human experience, phases of life, and our own cycles. This work is documentation of her personal journey of change, but her hope is that viewers can feel their own connection to nature’s cycles and draw parallels to the seasons of their own lives.
She has exhibited gallery work in solo and group shows throughout Oklahoma for over a decade. Her functional resin art and cyanotype prints can be found at consignment and retail shops regionally. She is committed to giving back to her community through her creativity. She volunteers with the Fresh Start art program at the Oklahoma City Homeless Alliance and donates a portion of sales to the program every month.
