Statement
As a devoted mother of three, I find solace and inspiration in the realms of art, music, literature, and family. My passion for colour, interior styling, a penchant for leopard print, and a subtle infatuation with the colour pink further enrich my creative journey.
I firmly believe that life is an ongoing odyssey of self-discovery and growth, a perpetual quest for inspiration drawn from the world that surrounds us. My happiest moments unfold within the walls of my home studio. There, surrounded by a curated playlist or the nostalgic crackle of an old LP on the turntable, a fragrant candle casting a warm glow, and a glass of red wine within reach, I embark on hours of artistic creation with the company of my lazy, belly-up cats on the sofa.
The beauty and emotions encountered in my interactions with people, animals, and the visual narratives of media images serve as the wellspring for my artwork. Each piece I create has the power to infuse spaces with memories and emotions, encouraging observers to reflect on themselves, others, and the diverse tapestry of life.
My portraits come to life in a distinctive pop art-inspired style. Utilizing bold and unconventional colour combinations against crisp, clean backgrounds on expansive canvases, I continually refine my approach, weaving song lyrics, quotes, or poems that resonate with both the subject and my own narrative. These elements collectively tell the story of how the subject has left an indelible mark on the world.
While my primary canvas is often vast, occasionally, I leave the easel to delicately paint small watercolours, predominantly capturing the grace of the female form at my desk. This dynamic range in my artistic expression allows me to explore and convey the intricacies of life through a diverse visual language.
My preferred medium for artistic expression is acrylic on canvas, and I predominantly work on a large scale. In certain instances, I incorporate spray paint or gold leaf to introduce additional dimensions to my compositions. For select pieces, I opt for a distinctive approach by having them reverse-printed onto acrylic glass. This particular medium serves to elevate the narrative of the artwork, presenting a glossy and glamorous visual, while simultaneously evoking a sense of delicacy and vulnerability due to its inherently fragile nature.
A notable hallmark of my art is the inclusion of a handwritten script in pen, a meticulous addition that imbues each piece with a unique and personal touch. This intentional fusion of mediums and techniques underscores my commitment to crafting distinctive artworks that resonate with both aesthetic and emotional depth.
