This is one in the series of "Tree Portraits," all of which start out with drawings of real trees. The "Big Bauhinia" is simply a celebration of tree branching, tree shape and colour, and the fact that different trees have different growth patterns. This one arches high, and shapes space like a giant bowl with lower branches hanging heavily toward the ground. It has a fine grace and eloquence of line as well as some subtle but fine colours.
