This welded alumnium sculpture was created by Bernard Kirschenbaum, a New York sculptor and architect. At the end of the Second World War Kirschenbaum served in a unit that liberated the Liepzig-Thekla concentration camp in Germany. The artist began his career working with the pioneering designer Buckminster Fuller; Kirschenbaum created the first geodesic residence in 1957. Having suffered some damage following Hurricane Sandy, the work is currently in storage.
