KAM Collection
Started in fall 2014, the KAM Collection is an ever-growing inventory of paintings, sculptures, prints, and photographs acquired to foster the cultural education and enrichment of our students, faculty, staff, and outside visitors. The KAM Collection has benefited enormously through the generous donation of art from artists and collectors. The works donated by Jeffrey H. and Tondra Lynford in 2023 are included within this collection.
KCC Collection
The KCC Collection consists of works purchased by or donated to Kingsborough Community College, many of which are on view.
Jeffrey H. and Tondra Lynford Collection
In 2023, the Kingsborough Art Museum received a generous donation of Post-War and Contemporary Art from Jeffrey H. and Tondra Lynford. Focusing primarily on collage, the Lynford gift features works by such noted artists as George Deem, Cletus Johnson, Al Souza, and Jiří Kolář. The exhibition Poems in Paper (November 13, 2024 - February 4, 2025) celebrated this remarkable gift to the KAM Collection.
Presidential Purchase Award Collection
For many years Kingsborough maintained the Presidential Purchase Awards, a tradition in which the college presented a monetary prize in exchange for a work of art chosen by the current President from the annual Student Art Exhibition. When storage capacity and framing costs became issues, the college decided to continue the award program (now the Presidential Art Awards) but allow the student to keep their work. There are many of these works on view around the campus, labeled as Presidential Purchase Awards.
