This aerial view of the Maritime Service Training Station (later the site of Kingsborough Community College) was painted by a Merchant Marine, Charles Lester Pickard. A former soldier in the Army who joined the Merchant Marines in 1945, Pickard apparently painted a number of murals and portraits for the Training Station; at present this is the only known surviving work from that series.
