I Am Okay the Way I Am, embodies the tension within my physical stretch marks and scars. Starting with photographs of my cesarean scar, I molded clay in the shape of my smooth skin and the scar tissue. Filling the gaps and by stretched skin with fiber that mimics their texture. Grateful for a surgery that kept me and my child safe and yet disappointed in my birthing story. As part of my healing journey I cam to the phase, hand stitched on the back of the piece, “I am okay the way I Am.”
