Denim Genes 18x18

Originally inspired by the old denim jeans I used to stamp the paintings with for texture.  I then added some vintage blue jean ads for more texture.  As I continued to work in the series I saw the many curves that make up women.  From our faces to our calves we are a series of multiple curves.  I continued to see curvy women and female faces in the paintings. As I added layer upon layer I became more enamored in the many aspects of this detail and just decided to embrace where the work was taking me.  All four paintings started as a whole surface but once separated they told an entirely different story.  The series is titled after a new terminology for jeans created for women only, in particular women with curves. I thought it was a cool way to describe what makes us who we are as women and how the denim world is finally acknowledgeing that we have curves. Enjoy ART!  Kimmy ;D

Southern Soulful Wisdom

I have created this series based on the words of Southern writers and lyricists.  It is a compilation of pieces from different aspects of the artistic diaspora of GA.  They have each written words that have resonated in my Southern Soul.  Across decades and at this point centuries these artists have recognized the goodness in Southern people and the sinfullness. Religion is tied to our roots and it resonates in the words we speak.  Unfortunately our love for humanity has not always been seen in our actions which is a key factor in most organized religion.  In many ways we have missed the love part of the equation.  Being Southern is a complicated endeavor and these artists from the past and present recognize that. I love all y'all.  Kimmy ;D
