I decided to use purple in this painting because I wanted to see what would happen, how it would develop. Since I do not use purple much, I was looking to see what creative push and effect it would have. I paint based on what I have learned, experience, and what I channel. I generally adjust as I go according to what I feel works together, design and otherwise. This is a lightly textured piece using acrylic paint, a little modeling paste, a brayer roller, and my hands. I wanted to break up the natural progression from purple to pink, so I added in the narrow band of turquoise near-center as well as the red vertical lines near the top. The vertical strokes of paint pull the viewer’s eye up into the pink area, where the strokes then become a bit more energetic and I laid down some stark white to create balance with the other colors.
