King and Queen are the most fluid, contemplative, and intimate couple of this body of work. I wanted them to look as if they were deep in conversation, sharing an emotional and intellectual intimacy.

King and Queen each individually exude “Masculine” and “Feminine” qualities. I believe that “Masculine” and “Feminine” energies are a dualism we all carry within. I think they’re complementary forces that we all oscillate between.

King and Queen share sensuous curves, but they also have a gravity, a commanding presence to them. Queen has an opening in her belly, alluding to the magic of a woman’s body to create. King has a male appendage I’ve never represented until now.

I also like that if you look at them at a glance, they look like mirrors on one another, which speaks to the dualism of masculine and feminine I think we all contain, and also how I feel with my partner.
