FRAMED - I used a technique of mixing and pouring on paint in various 'concoctions' to create the textured and colorful base, or underpainting, in a form that roughly resembled what I was wanting to express. From there I added a collage of found papers, and sometimes more paint or other mediums. I tried to achieve a cohesive look in these multiple layers and mediums so that they all played nicely together. In Sundown, I am celebrating the stunningly beautiful and enormous skies that we find in Kansas. It never fails to put things in perspective for me when I gaze at the expansive beauty of a Kansas sky! I have intentionally left anything man made out of this piece because it is always a reminder to me how tiny we are in the face of such grandeur.
