A day to remember, painting all day in a sea of color and the fresh air off the Umpqua with three friends.

Lavendar and Hazelnut orchard on the Umpqua. Special Thank you to Growing Miracles Lavendar Farm for allowing us to spend the the day there.

I met up with artists Susan Rudisil, Bets Cole and McKenzie Floyd for a pleasant day of painting. Susan found a wonderful location for us offered by the owners of Growing Miracles Lavendar Farm in Roseberg, Oregon. The colors were spectacular with the addition of huge swaths of blooming lavender against the varied and rich greens and yellows of wild vegetation and Hazelnut Orchards and the silvery blue greens of the Umpqua with billowing greys to white and blue clouded sky. A feast for sure in fresh air free of the bustling sounds of cars and people we settled into the quiet routine of group painting. Painting itself is a solitary occupation that requires stamina and concentration. Standing in focused silence for hours then breaking for friendly chatter before starting again. Depending on the day some work is finished on site, some just begun to be finished in the studio or on a return day.
