The Newsletters, Images & Words, began in September of 2024 but I’m just getting around to posting about them. There are currently 9 Issues, with plans for the 10th one already on paper. The basic plan is for one or two each month with extra issues for out of the ordinary ideas.The issues look at the range of my work, painting issues, work in process as well as finished pieces. On the Easel issues have at least one piece that I’m working on. I’ve been painting with focus for about 30 years but early work began in the late sixties while getting an art degree and before as I’ve always liked to paint.
I wrote extras in November to talk about the annual Sandgren Paint Out and Erik Sandgren’s painting Workshop that takes place during the first few days of the otherwise free event. I’ve been going since 2000 and look forward to the intense focus on painting daily for two weeks. I also did extra issues about the group exhibition that Erik Sandgren organized with a catalogue produced in book format. Both are called The Pacific Threshold: Sandgren & Sandgren, Painting the Oregon Coast with Friends. The book is available for purchase (see the Portfolio page), the exhibition ended with October.
