921- Wet Feet! - Boulders in Ashland Creek - Unfinished Work

We had this amazing thunderstorm Friday September 28th, a windblown, downpour worthy of any Texas storm.  The first house I bought was in Texas on a bluff facing west, with a giant pecan tree that shaded the lawn and house from the western sun. We enjoyed watching the storm roll our way looking into the northwest across the flat horizon. The river bed ran the same path and the tornadoes invariably found it. The tumultuous skies streaked with flashing light and the wind and electric fresh fragrance was as good as any day standing on the edge of Rocky Creek being blown about by an Oregon coast storm. Alas, my hillside studio was not up for it and the area had just created to store supplies and paintings flooded. After flowing over the new vinyl flooring it reached the carped main work area and wicked its way throughout. I spent the week moving everything off the floor onto work surfaces to allow the concrete slab to dry. Chaos more than usual has claimed every corner.  Hence, the painting of the week is titled “Wet Feet!”. It’s the only one this week and it is unfinished. It’s also gouache on gessoed muslin on panel, which turns out to be a great surface to work on.
