Yaquina Head from the cobble stone beach in reverse as a challenge from a friend. It is gouache on paper. Gouache is a wonderful on site medium. It is water based using gum arabic as the binder like transparent watercolors but is formulated differently and is intended to be laid down in multiple layers to build up a dense complex surface. It has quite effective opaque covering qualities but can also be used transparently. It makes an excellent partner to traditional transparent watercolors, acrylics, or as an underpainting for oils. It is one of my favorite mediums for is lovely surface quality.
