I love the rich, dark greens of the Everglades. The fecund waters are a significant breeding ground for wading birds of North America. Whether poised at a river bend or cruising the coastline with slow, deep wingbeats, the Great Blue Heron is a majestic sight. This stately heron with its subtle blue-gray plumage often stands motionless as it scans for prey or wades belly deep with long, deliberate steps. I subtly blended the heron in the painting so that the viewer could find it as they more closely viewed the painting.
