Our talented and vivacious resident, Kathryn Carter, has been working intensively over the last 12 month on her seascapes and landscapes of Northland, drawing inspiration from the coastal area of Tutukaka and Matapouri estuaries and sea.
"The changing light through the day interests me because of the variety. An objective view can quickly become subjective, ephemeral and then vanish into darkness and the imagination, and all that is left is a memory ". The presence and permanence of the landforms is reassuring despite the changing passage and transience of light over the day and yet sometimes even their presence seems illusory as weather changes and light angles can shift and float landforms.
