Katheryn Anne Hande
Georgetown, Tennessee
Katheryn is a mixed media oil painter whose work explores the luminous connection between people, animals, and the natural world.
MessageUsing copper leaf in both its pure and patinaed forms, Katheryn Anne creates rich, layered portraits that shimmer with symbolism and emotional depth. Fascinated by copper’s conductivity and healing properties, she weaves this reactive metal into her paintings to reflect themes of resilience, energy, and transformation. Her subjects—often birds —speak to a quiet strength, a rising above, and the beauty that emerges from struggle.
A lifelong creative, Katheryn made the leap into full-time artistry in 2024 after years of teaching and exploring art across many mediums. She is currently completing her professional art training through Milan Art Institute and teaches adult art classes in Chattanooga, Tennessee, blending her background in education with her passion for inspiring others through creativity. Katheryn’s work is available for exhibition and commission, especially animal portraiture, and can be viewed on Instagram @katherynannefineart, via her portfolio on Artwork Archive and purchased on her website https://katherynanne.com
Statement
My work is a dialogue between the organic beauty of nature and the enduring spirit of humanity. I am drawn to birds and female figures for their strength, grace, and resilience—qualities that echo through my own life. Using pure copper leaf and patina, I embrace a process that mirrors nature’s transformations, creating luminous surfaces that shift with the light. Each piece is an invitation to pause, reflect, and sense the quiet bonds we share with the living world.
