The century plant bloom signals the end of it's life cycle in a brilliant display. Reaching heights of 20-30 feet, with horizontal branching structures ending in panicles of 3-4" flowers that can vary in color, ranging from pale to vibrant yellows to rich oranges and reds.
The first time I saw these breathtaking displays was on our first drive down the length of the Baja Peninsula. Every time thereafter I admired the stages of the Century plant and how beautiful it is - even in death it turns to lovely earth tones and the once moist and supple stalks turn hard and rigid making an excellent Christmas tree for the holidays.
