Australian artist creating colourful paintings capturing the magic of walking through trees and by the ocean in Margaret River's Cape to Cape region
MessageKarina is a UK born professional artist, now living in Australia, who is passionate about paint, and the trees and coast which make life in the Southwest of Western Australia so unique. Originally a marketing professional in large food companies, she changed career and was awarded a Fine Art Degree from Curtin University in Perth in 2013. Karina then volunteered for Fine Art at Hale, becoming Curator for 2016/17.
Karina is devoted to memorising and documenting the places she walks in each day, as a means of immortalising its visual beauty and the sense of well-being it evokes. Creating unique visual texture, colour theory and maximising depth of field are her main interests. Her paintings seek to reflect the balance between energy and calm that is present in the natural world.
Karina’s art practice highlights include being selected as a finalist in the prestigious 2024 Perth Royal Art Prize for Landscape, shortlisted by New York gallerist Anita Rogers in the International Art2Life Juried Art Exhibition 2023, presenting the solo exhibition Walk of Wonder: Reflections from the Cape to Cape Track in January 2022 at Gallows Gallery in Perth; opening her purpose built Dunsborough studio to the public for Margaret River Region Open Studios (MRROS) in 2022, 2023 and 2024; and having her work acquired by the City of Stirling for its public collection in 2021. She enjoys sharing her painting knowledge through her popular weekend workshops.
