The clouds that form upslope on Haleakalā, the largest volcano on Maui, create a vista of clouds that can be rarely seen from above without an airplane window in the way. A cloud layer forms, making the summit an island amongst a sea of clouds. When I took this shot, the clouds were vivid purple with orange in the distance. Through my photographic manipulations, I have paired the cloud surface with a bearded iris that held some of the contrasting color in the otherworldly clouds.
