This was the very first portrait I ever drew. It is my musical hero Robert Smith of The Cure. This was taken from a photo of Robert circa 1984. The Cure's music has been the soundtrack of my life for almost 40 years. I knew, as soon as I decided to do my first portrait, that it would be of Robert Smith. The title of the piece comes from the song of the same name on the Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me Album. I saw The Cure for the first of 8 times on that tour. Robert's guitar playing is my major influence in my own guitar playing.
