“The inspiration behind this piece is a statement made by Joe Biden in reference to those convicted of a crime: “lock the S.O.B.s up.” The quote speaks to an attitude the president shares with far too many people in power. It is an attitude that sees all those that find themselves on the wrong side of the law as the “other.” Without knowing the millions of American mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, friends, or veterans who are imprisoned in this country, they view them as lesser, irredeemable.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden is presented as an “aw shucks,” genial guy.

In my painting, I juxtaposed that smiling public image with the darker message of “lock the S.O.Bs up,” which is the accurate representation of Joe Biden’s decades long record pertaining to the “justice” system and his view of convicted Americans.”
