April: the fourth in the calendar series. My plan from the beginning was to have an easter egg hunt with a creepy bunny scaring the kids. I think I succeeded in making him scary enough. I was literally laughing when I was painting him. His hands were originally in a different position, then I thought it would make him look more menacing if he had them up like he was going to lunge at the kids. When I painted them, I laughed again. I picked Kansas as the setting for most of my pictures and always put a Ks. license plate appropriate to the year it's set in. But I made it a little too densely forested for that state. Oh well, let's make it set somewhere else. I wanted to put a couple of people in the left foreground to fill in that empty area there. I wanted some kind of interaction between them other than them just talking. I thought of having the guy handing something to the woman but I couldn't think of what. Lots of things came to mind. I almost settled on him showing her an engagement ring, then thought of him handing her money, then went further and had a briefcase full of money. There's some kind of story there. He definitely got it by some nefarious means. Now that I think about it, I should have made it gold bars.
