Mossi Emperor Morgho Naaba
- Bronze
- 94 cm
- Rasmané Dermé
Unique, finely carved piece with many details made with the lost wax method. It represents Morgho Nabe, the emperor of the Mossi, on his horse. Purchased in Ouagadougou in the welding shop of Daouda Dermé. The Dermé family migrated form Mali to Burkina Faso, probably in the 19th century. They became the leading bronze artists for the emperor of the Mossi. Today there are many branches of the family, some of them still in the bronze business.
