Stitch with Sappho is a large scale collaborative textile installation created by Juliet D Collins and community participants in her Stitch with Sappho workshops. Through stitched text, layered found fabrics, thread, and mixed media elements, the work responds to surviving fragments of Ancient Greek poet Sappho's poetry. Inspired by her fragmented legacy the work explores queer and feminist themes reflecting on what survives and what is lost. Combining personal reflection with collective art making, the installation becomes a living portrait of Sappho not as a fixed historical figure, but as a presence that remains very relevant today. The artwork has been created during Juliet's Kingston Arts Magnify Residency 2026 and the collaborative installation will be completed and installed at Kingston Arts G3 Artspace, Parkdale, VIC 14th August - 10th October 2026.
