Julie Kay Midyett
Canon City, CO
In 2008, I rediscovered my passion for art. Since then, I have thoroughly enjoyed exploring diverse mediums and artists to create my own unique style.
MessageJulie Kay Midyett , just recently moved to Canon City, Colorado with her husband of 39 years, a dog and two cats. She started painting and drawing in 2008 after a long hiatus since high school. She has studied under Marianne Billingsley, the late Frank Cavino, Sina March, Rob Gratiot and more recently John Passaro. She completed numerous classes at the Art Student League of Denver as well as workshops throughout Colorado. She enjoys painting in acrylic and oil, yet consistently challenges herself by exploring new mediums. Julie applies various artistic styles ranging from realism to abstract.
Julie holds a B.S. degree in Clinical Nutrition and had a career in accounting and tax preparation. She has been a member and teacher of Better Investing for over 25 years, a nonprofit organization focused on teaching investment practices.
To balance the heavy influence of finances and taxes, Julie reembraced her passion for arts which had lain dormant for many years, and her artistic talents resurfaced in full force. Julie’s love of science and mathematics is satisfied by her study of the old masters. She greatly admires these individuals as she studies the complexities behind each work of art and the discipline required to create each piece.
Julie's hobbies include reading art history, drawing, and painting. She is an active member of the Foothills Art Center, Wheat Ridge Art League, Art Student League of Denver, and Denver Art Museum and recently joined the Fremont Center for the Arts.
