I discovered quilt making whilst pregnant with my second child (who is now over 30) and learnt the different techniques involved. This has helped me greatly to evolve into textile art and mixed media. While technically some of my textile work qualifies as an art quilt (because it has layers), it is definitely wall art, not anything that you would put on a bed. I prefer to embroider by hand, although some of my work is embellished by sewing machine. Paint, paper, found materials and building supplies are often incorporated into the mix.
