I was commissioned in 2020 to make something completely new andinspied on a line from the Aneaid regarding the ocean waves leaping up like a dance to the skies. Here is some of what came out of it in a collection over time.

Using a traditional and more complex quilting pattern, I was able to finally let go to morph out from the initial pattern into something quite "else :-)

This collection was included Julia's solo exhibition In-Spiral-ed, this summer 2021 in Red bank, New Jersey, at Art Alliance of Monmouth County, Gallery Space. “In-Spiral-ed ” is a solo art show featuring the fiber -art works by local artist, Julia Muench. Julia’s finds constant inspiration for her art work through ubiquitous structures in our natural world. She aims in her art work to convey a way we can see beyond cultural constraints, and perhaps focus in on some essential elements. Maybe some elements that we sometimes forget about. It depends on how one sees it, however, for her, the theme “In-spiral- ed” presents the enigma of our own cultural trappings and yet concurrently finding our way out, as the intrinsic spiral shape itself, suggests.
