Murrieta, California
Abstract artist creating joyful and impactful experiences through the use of bold color, expressive marks and organic shapes.
MessageGrowing up in sunny Southern California afforded Julia Kuklis the luxury of spending most of her youth playing outside. The textures, patterns and colors of her natural playground inspired her and sparked her imagination. As a young adult, a love for art and design led her to pursue an education in visual merchandising from Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Los Angeles and interior design from Design Institute, San Diego. After years of working in creative fields, she took a break to raise her family and it was in that season that her fascination with abstract painting resurfaced. In 2019 she embarked on her painting journey where she cultivated a language to convey her personal journey of faith, healing and hope. Through the use of bold color, expressive marks and organic shapes she brings a joyful cadence to the canvas in an attempt to give the viewer a lively and impactful experience.
Julia currently acts as Assistant Director of Prophetic Art at Centerpoint Church in Murrieta, CA. Her work is held in private collections across the United States and has been exhibited in galleries throughout Southern California.
Statement
Painting abstracts nourishes my soul and makes me feel alive! My faith in God and the intuitive process of creating art has played a pivotal role in overcoming limiting beliefs about myself and my calling as an artist. For me, art has been and continues to be an avenue for healing and a means of processing and expressing daily life. I enjoy the freedom that comes from laying down random lines and vibrant colors, scratching through the paint to create interesting textures, and uncovering hidden surprises as I build up and take away layers. Inspiration comes from the natural world, design and other peoples' artwork, but color is what excites me the most! My desire as an artist is to bring life, light and positive awareness to people through my artwork, in hopes of leaving them feeling uplifted and encouraged.
