The Eco Engineers of the Biosphere these amazing beings are truly remarkable at helping to rebalance wild wetlands, repairing and restoring as they go about their natural day to day life. Herbivores, they forage for tree bark and vegetation of many kinds, they set about creating a safe habitat and home for themselves and their young ones. They are such a unique type of animal, their rudder like tails and webbed feet perfectly designed for life in the water.
We are very fortunate to have two pairs of Beavers reintroduced this year (2021) to some local Wetlands about 10 minutes from where we live. I can’t tell you how excited I am to see them arrive and set about helping restore the damaged quarry site that is in such need of help. They will help to keep the water in the wetlands releasing it slowly back into the nearby River, reducing localised flooding. They will also welcome many other species to return to these lands as they work their magic.
We have so much to learn from these incredible beings. Repairing, restoring and balancing our natural world is, in my opinion, the top priority for humanity right now and if we could take a leaf out of their book (or paws!) we would be moving in the right direction.
As with all of my work I donate 10% to charities that are helping to protect and nurture wildlife and nature and I have been raising funds for the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust for the Beavers over the past year or so, your purchases of my work will directly contribute to help bring the Beavers back to Derbyshire.
I am fortunate to have been granted permission to visit and photograph these Beavers for future work, where I will donate at least 10% of my sales to the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust to help support their care and protection.
