'Journey' selected for the SAQA Atlantic exhibit

Dear Julea...

'Journey' selected for the SAQA Atlantic exhibit

Congratulations! We are delighted to inform you that your quilt, Journey, has been accepted for inclusion in SAQA Atlantic Canada’s Fourth Regional Exhibition “Commotion”. We received many exceptional entries for the exhibit and ultimately 26 quilts were selected. Our juror, Lee Cripps, had this to say about her selections:

“I tried to create a diversity in colour, skill, and artistic expression in relation to theme. What a tough choice!! There were such great submissions! I did enjoy the pieces that I felt expressed a great sense of energy and which evoked a strong emotional response.”

The exhibition will premier on June 7, 2021 at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design in Sydney, Nova Scotia. It is then scheduled to travel until the end of June 2023.

—How great it is to receive an email like this. Submissions are always tricky, you just never know. Needless to say, I am delighted. As relates to the show theme, Journey, is about my journey as an artist and the many pathways that have led me to and from different forms of artistic expression. With each new path or change in direction, there has been inner questioning, uncertainty, and personal commotion to be navigated, but I happily continue the journey nevertheless.
