Thanks for visiting my art portfolio. I invite you to enjoy the mood-boosting energy that I put into my lyrical abstract and nature-based paintings.
MessageAs part of "Turning the Tide: Island Imaginaries and Interdisciplinaries in Climate Change" conference, co-sponsored by the Institute of Island Studies, the UNESCO Chair in Island Studies and Sustainability, and the Canadian Centre for Climate Change Adaption at UPEI, University of Aruba, and Sophia University (Tokyo), an artistic component was a big part of this academic conference. So, alongside scholars talking about climate change and islands from around the globe, there were responses from artists, too! The art was showcased with a feast of images, words, and sounds for conference-goers and the public.
Sheryl MacKay, from CBC Mainstreet PEI, interviewed Laurie Brinklow (conference co-chair) about the conference, along with me and composer, Heather Taves, about "Shifting Shores", an interactive project led by me. Part of it was a mural which featured abstract art and word impressions from conference-goers as they emerged from the sessions - all against the backdrop of pianist/composer Heather Taves's beautiful soundscape specially written for the project, as well as poetry by Laurie Brinklow and Len St-Aubin.
