Based on my love of dance-pop music, Dance-Pop is a series of party-vibe abstracts that jump off the dance club floor and onto the wall. These paintings express the kind of pure escape that goes with the infectious beat of music centreed on love, encouragement, and dancing the night away. The colours are a nod to the positive, inclusive atmosphere of the disco phenomenon that started in the 70s, at clubs in New York City which allowed people from all walks of life, especially those in marginalized communities, to safely come together and dance. Titles are inspired by both new and nostalgic favourites from my dance-pop playlist.
