I starting painting an abstract referencing indigenous Australian art made aboriginal women. As I was working I remembered a travel photo, sent to me by a friend, of an Indian woman walking through an open air market. Using both ideas I used a negative shape painting technique to superimpose the image of the woman on top of aboriginal symbols that can still be seen underneath some of the details of the image.
