Many fond childhood memories swirled around in my head whist painting this piece. It is a view of the pasture and hay field beyond the stand of trees behind the house I grew up in. I used to venture out there often, usually on my own, either to wander about and explore, or call the cows in for milking once I got older. It was very a peaceful spot, yet full of life and interesting things to discover. This occupied me for many hours during the spring, summer and fall, less often in the winter due to the deep snow. I still sigh at the thought of all that has changed since those days and how I can no longer go back.
