The Arbutus Trees of the west coast of British Columbia like a semi tropical zone. They keep their leaves all year and they have both white flowers and a red berries during the year. Their bark moults and peels, producing brilliant reds and purples with a gorgeous core of lime green in the spring. They are also called Madrona Trees in the USA. Our local coffee shop is called Mad Rona's, and for about 2 months I thought it was named for a crazy aunt. Oops..
