I am a painter and printmaker. Graduated in 1980, BFA, San Francisco Art Institute. (Love that school!) That was after I graduated from San Jose State University w/ honors. My studies included a symester in Mexico.
I've had over ten one person shows and have been in many group shows across the country.
I grew up on a cattle ranch. At this time I was close to animals, plants dirt and weather.
I still love all of the above. I spent days at the cattle camp with my dad: herding cattle to better grass, branding, building trails and avoiding rattlesnakes.
My dad was very interested in politics. I grew up talking about politics. These experiences influence the art.
I usually work in series. The last series was "Houses, Homes, and Shelters." These images were based on where people slept. Trailers, prison, fancy, expensive houses,
Homeless sanctuaries, long haul trucks.
The new series is "Backyard Surprises." The world seems to be quickly shrinking. As I type this a message blasts out that six people have been stabbed in London. The world seems to be in my backyard. Also image of botanical gardens are just a click away. All kinds and colors of people are very close. We, all the people, are on this spinning globe together. We watch as animals are rescued or become extinct. I use to worry about the other animals. Now I worry that we might become extinct.
