Iconic and Metaphoric Paintings
Working with natural objects -- leaves, seeds, stones, feathers--taking them out of context, enlarging and examining them, creating new relationships, is a way to add rhetorical meaning within a realistic genre. This collection is akin to "Pebbles," a more recent group of paintings.
Landscapes
Monroe County, WV, landscapes. Those moments driving the back roads that stop me in my tracks. As well as scenes from my home, Redwing Farm, Sinks Grove, WV.
Pebbles
This is an idiosyncratic collection of paintings based on pebbles I have collected over the course of many years. Arranging them, enlarging them, engaging them with each other creates dialogues, rhetorical meanings, relationships and signals that fascinate me.
